CORIAN 101

About Corian

Corian is a synthetic solid surfacing brand created by DuPont.  It comes in more than 100 colors and is versatile enough to work for countertops, sinks, shelves, vanities and sinks, showers and tubs, walls and facings, and much more.

Why Corian?

Corian can withstand most of the challenges of daily use at a more practical price than Granite and SileStone.  Unlike natural stone, it can be refinished to its original appearance if nicked, cut, marred, or scratched thereby reducing the risk of replacement.  Similar to SileStone, it is non-porous and requires no sealing, it is highly stain-resistant and virtually maintenance free.  However Corian is not as heat-resistant as Granite or SileStone.

Pricing

Corian pricing methods vary and it is important that you are comparing “apples-to-apples”.  Some companies’ price per square foot installed and that price include everything from removal to cutting and edging charges.  Other break out these charges separately.   Most companies’ price per square foot installed but may add on some other charges for the work performed.  Make sure you ask specific questions about how the job is priced.
